The Dawoodi Bohras of Melbourne hosted a 'Biz-and-Chai seminar to discuss all things entrepreneurship.

According to the Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman, small businesses are collectively worth more than half a trillion dollars to the Australian economy. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are significant employers, taxpayers and wealth generators. Many SMEs are owned and operated by women, key drivers of business growth.

Highlighting the dynamic role of SMEs in fostering economic growth, the Dawoodi Bohra community in Melbourne recently hosted a “Biz and Chai Seminar” attended by over 250 budding entrepreneurs, both men and women of the faith, from across Australia.

The “Biz and Chai Seminar” aimed to foster entrepreneurial spirit within the Dawoodi Bohra community.  Participants took the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals, explore new ventures, and discuss the latest trends in business practices. The seminar included sessions on starting and financing a new business, investing in real estate, and expanding professional networks. The event was complemented by servings of chai, an aromatic tea beloved by Dawoodi Bohras.

The Dawoodi Bohras are well-known for their entrepreneurial spirit and business acumen, and have a long history of engaging in global trade. Many are successful businesspeople across diverse industries, including textiles, manufacturing, real estate, and information technology. The community encourages education, innovation, and commerce, and provides support structures like community funding to help members start and grow their businesses. This business-oriented mindset is complemented by the faith’s emphasis on trust and ethical business practices.

“The key to success in entrepreneurship lies not just in ideas, but in execution. It’s about taking calculated risks, adapting to change, and persisting through challenges,” remarked Husain Gondal, owner of Travel With Style, a luxury car service based in Melbourne, and one of the expert presenters.

“Attending the seminar was incredibly inspiring. Hearing the success stories and strategies of fellow Dawoodi Bohra entrepreneurs has motivated me to take my business to the next level,” shared Hussain Tinwala, owner of Tinster Digital, a social media marketing company in Sydney.
