The Dawoodi Bohras of Auckland collaborated with ‘Feed the Homeless Auckland’, a Samaritan organization, to feed nearly 150 homeless people living in the Auckland City Center area.
As the community observed the occasion of Eid al Adha – a festival that denotes a celebration or feast – community members celebrated by serving a three course meal each.
“At a time when the world is reeling from the knock-on effects of the pandemic, we felt obliged to contribute to our local community in whatever capacity we could” said Shabbir Rajkotwala, continuing “The food was prepared in our community kitchen known as Faizul Mawaid al Burhaniyah and prepared keeping true to the highest standards of taste and quality”.

The food drive was conducted under the banner of Project Rise, the Dawoodi Bohra community’s global philanthropic arm, that looks to make positive interventions in society under five major focus areas; namely food security, healthcare, water and sanitation, environmental responsibility & conservation, and education.
