Dawoodi Bohras of Melbourne Celebrate Republic Day of India

On January 26th 2020, representatives from the Dawoodi Bohra community in Melbourne joined dignitaries at the Consulate General of India to celebrate India’s 71st Republic Day. Officials from the Consulate General welcomed guests to the function, including students, businessmen and prominent members of the Indian community in Melbourne. Each year, the Consulate General encourages all those who wish to participate, to join the celebration and commemorate the occasion, opening the doors to all Indians, persons of Indian origin and mutual friends of India. 

The event was attended by Ibnemadyan Jamali, the local community representative along with members of the community, who were well-received by members of the Consulate. The celebration commenced with the hoisting of the Indian flag, followed by the national anthem. The event concluded with an engaging address by Consul General, Mr. Raj Kumar, who touched upon the importance of diversity in a nation, highlighting India’s strong belief in inclusivity and unity.
