The Dawoodi Bohras of Auckland welcomed the Honorable Member of Parliament Christopher Joseph Carter at the community’s center to mark the auspicious occasion of Eid Milad al Nabi (birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammed) on the 9th of November 2019.

The community’s scouts troop welcomed the honorable guest to the banquet hall where he participated in the Milad celebrations which included a cultural performance by young children who recited panegyrics in Arabic and in the community’s vernacular, Lisan al Dawat.

Mr Carter was full of praise of the performance saying “it is good that the community has retrieved its key cultural elements and inculcated it down the generations. It is essential that they stay true to their traditions in order to foster a thriving multicultural society.”

Post performance, Mr Carter interacted with community members and shared a joyful dinner with them.
